Decisions

Making the choice to go holistic, was a fairly "easy" choice for us to make. I say that because it was really our only choice. Because of my grandma's age and stage of cancer, surgery was not an option. My grandma had seen her sister suffer with chemotherapy, and we all knew what it does to your body. We knew that chemo was not something we wanted to put her through. Knowing this, there was still a choice to be made. Sit back and do nothing, and watch her slowly or quickly suffer terrible pain and die. Or we could try to do something. Something that could possibly spare her the pain and suffering.  We chose to do something even if it didn't work out in the end. What else did we have to lose? So far, it is working, my grandma feels good, and she is not in any pain.

Many people decide to do chemo and radiation and surgeries. For some it works, and for some it doesn't. This blog is not meant to tell you what to do. My hope was that you would see and understand that there are other options out there. There are things you can try. Especially if you are in a situation like my grandma, where there is nothing else medically that can be done. If this is the case for you, than I say, why not? Why not try something that just might heal your body. After all it's just food, and you have to eat anyway, so why not eat food that could possibly heal the "incurable" illness that you might have.

Better yet, start now. Do all the things that doctors and experts have been saying for years. Exercise, eat lots of fruits and veggies, and whole grains. These are things that have been drilled into our minds for so long, that I think most people have become desensitized to it. We hear it, but figure we are getting enough or don't care. After helping my grandma through this holistic approach, I understand that there is something behind the very basic advice that the professionals have been giving all this time. And thank goodness for the internet, because without it, I wouldn't have been able to help my grandma the way I have.

Food for thought:
I was thinking about something the other day. Doctors have said that cancer is genetic. I guess that's probably true, but so many people in so many different families from so many different places have cancer. So does that mean that we are all related genetically? I have heard stories of people who have cancer, and there is no history in their family. Then there are children who develop cancer, and no one in their family has it. Then again, there are many people who have long histories of cancer in their families. But what does this tell us? Nothing. Many people from all over develop cancer for many different reasons.

If we break it down, cancer/tumors are cells in our bodies that have mutated. Sometimes because of the things we put in our bodies. Like smoking, drugs, and alcohol, or pollution in the city, or asbestos in the walls of our buildings. There are many things that can contribute to what happens in our bodies. My mom told me that a nurse she knew told her that we all have the potential to develop cancer. Stress is a big factor as well. Stress can wreak havoc on our cells, and cause all kinds of problems and issues.

This leads me back to the book I recommended earlier, "You Can Heal Your Life". Louise Hay says that our stresses, worries, problems, and the negative things we focus on manifest themselves in various ways throughout the body. So be careful of the things you are thinking about and stressed about, because once again, thoughts/stresses have a way of manifesting themselves in the body.
