Something Might be Seriously Wrong

Before my grandpa passed away, I had taken them both to their Primary Care Physician. I took them because the home care, told me that my grandpa had been complaining of his side/ribs hurting. This was in January 2012. So, we made an appointment and got them in. The doctor checked out my grandpa, and when she tried to touch his side, he showed signs of pain. She ordered x-rays for him, so she could see if there was any broken bones. Before we left the doctor's office, she decided to check out my grandma as well. She had my grandma lay on the table, and the Doctor tapped on the left side of her stomach. By the way, we had noticed that her stomach had become quite big. She looked like she was pregnant. In fact, one of the caregivers at the home care, made a joke about it before we knew anything was wrong. Anyway, the doctor tapped on her stomach, and she jumped. The doctor felt around and said that she felt a large mass and it was hard. She ordered a CT scan for my grandma. We were supposed to make an appointment, but my grandma didn't want to have it done. A little more background.....She had 4 siblings. 2 brothers and 2 sisters, and they all died of cancer, including her father. However, her mother lived to be 106 years old. This was the reason she didn't want to know what was wrong with her. She knew what it probably was, and didn't want to face it. She figured she would just let the cards fall where they may. We were worried, but figured if she didn't want to go we couldn't force her. By the way, the x-rays showed nothing on my grandpa's ribs. My grandpa had a tendency to be a bit dramatic sometimes. After my grandpa passed away, we needed to have some papers signed by the doctor to get VA benefits for my grandma. In June of 2012, we made an appointment, but her regular doctor was on vacation so we had to see another doctor. This new doctor, felt her stomach and said the same thing that we already knew from before. That she had a big mass on her left side of her abdomen. Only this time, it was covering a larger area. The first time we had seen her regular doctor, the mass was on the left side of her abdomen. The new doctor we were seeing, said that it was not only on her left side, but it had moved down into her lower abdomen as well. I told the doctor, that we already knew but that my grandma didn't want to have any tests done, and she didn't want to know anything. The doctor didn't know what to say, except she was trying to let me know that this could only get worse. I already knew that.
